Letter from the Board of Trustees

Dear Member,

It is now over a month since we were instructed to close the club and finish all of our sporting activities by the government.

We are sure this period of enforced lockdown is trying everyone’s patient and resolve, however the alternative of contracting this Coronavirus is very frightening.

We have mothballed the club and sporting facilities and are protecting the fabric of the buildings and the quality of the sporting facilities. We have furloughed a number of our staff and have 3 people actively maintaining the facilities. We have attempted to tap into the financial assistance from the government to ensure the club survives and re-emerges the other side of this pandemic.

We asked those who could to keep paying their membership subscriptions to support the Club as we still have ongoing costs salaries, utilities and other bills. We realise that those of you who have not cancelled their subscriptions, for which we thank you, will need to be recompensed for the period of time you have been denied access to your sports facilities. We will attempt to compensate you when lock down ends and the club re-opens but we would point out that we may have to phase the compensation to protect the financial position of the club.

We do envisage that there is a possibility that the lockdown may be released in stages which may mean some sports will be allowed to restart earlier than others and probably earlier than we will be allowed to open the bar and kitchens.

Our aim is to keep everyone as safe as possible during this crisis and emerge the other side as the No.1 multi sports club in Solihull.

Thank you for your patience and understanding, please stay safe and we look forward to the recommencement of sports at Grange Road as soon as we are allowed to.

Yours in sports
